DORE'S LONDON

Her London series showing the city of her birth is a homage to Gustave Dore, the French painter whose memorable illustrations showed the London of the 1870s.  Michele traced Dore’s footsteps around the Thames, stood where he stood and now shows us London in the 21st century.  Each work is a double canvas with Dore’s view faithfully copied on the surrounding canvas inset with the view showing the changes to the London environment that have altered people’s lives for better or worse.
